Apopka Pest Control
Apopka, Florida is a growing town near Orlando and Kissimmee that has almost doubled in population over the last decade or so. The current population is around 50,000, and the ongoing growth will continue thanks to all the wonderful activities in and around Apopka. Home to the country band Sawyer Brown and one of the longest-serving mayors in the United States, John H. Land, from 1949 to 2014, Apopka is a diverse city with a long history of hospitality. From the wonderful events at the Apopka Amphitheater to the Museum of the Apopkans, the city blends its history and culture to create a great place to live or visit. Forbes Magazine even named Apopka the “14th Friendliest City in America,” telling the world what Apopkans have known all along.
Locals and tourists have long known that Apopka and the surrounding areas are great places for viewing the unique wildlife of Florida. The Avian Reconditioning Center for Birds of Prey
is an entertaining and educational experience for anyone that wants a “hands-on” adventure and wants to learn about the center's preservation efforts. For those who want a little more “wild” in their wildlife experience, the Lake Apopka Loop Trail and the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive are ideal for seeing alligators, birds, and other local wildlife. There are plenty of opportunities for taking photographs or just watching animals in their natural habitat.
Like many of the towns and cities in this part of Florida, Apopka's name can be traced back to local Indian tribes. Originally settled by the Acuera Indian tribe who were displaced by the Seminoles in the early 1800s, the settlement was the birthplace of the Seminole chief Coacoochee. Many of the local attractions, like Wekiwa State Park, also owe the origins of their names to the tribes that originally settled the area. Early American settlers would move into the area in the mid-1800s, establishing the settlement that would become Apopka in 1882. The growth of the area took off after the Civil War as railroad lines were built throughout the area.
