Mosquito Control in Orlando, Florida

Central Florida does not really get a mosquito off-season. Warm nights, afternoon storms from June through September, and standing water that refills every week mean Orlando yards can produce mosquitoes almost year round, with the worst of it from May into October.

Good mosquito control here starts with water, not spray. A female only needs a bottle cap of it. On a typical Orlando property we find it in bromeliads and other cupped landscape plants, clogged gutters, saucers under potted plants, tarps and boat covers, corrugated downspout extensions, bird baths, irrigation boxes, French drains, untreated rain barrels and the low spot in the yard that never quite dries after a storm. We walk the property, show you what is breeding, and treat or eliminate the sources we can reach.

Then comes the barrier treatment. Mosquitoes rest during the day on the underside of foliage, in dense shrubs, under decks and in shaded corners of the fence line. That is where the product goes, not into the open air. We also treat with the pollinators in mind: no treatment of blooming plants, and we work around what is flowering in your beds.

No honest company can promise a mosquito-free yard in Florida. What a good program does is cut the population on your property down to where you can actually sit outside.
